Letter From the Editor
Dear Readers and Contributors:
We live in a time of constant scientific discovery, debate and discussion, and it is more important than ever to understand the implications and outcomes of research. The D.U.Quark was created with the intention of not only providing the entire Duquesne community with the latest research news from Duquesne’s own labs and beyond, but also to serve as a platform for students to advance their science literacy and hone the tools needed to navigate today’s scientific landscape. In pursuit of this educational goal, the Quark offers opportunities for students to submit their research and reviews to the peer-review process. Students also gain valuable experience and insight by peer reviewing the work of others or synthesizing science news into content for others to read on the Quark website. Through these efforts, we hope to promote science awareness on campus and prepare students for future science literacy.
The Quark itself is an experiment; as a completely student-run and online publication, we are breaking new ground at Duquesne. As we grow and improve, we hope to earn your trust and support. If you’d like to become part of our team, email us! We’re eager for fresh perspectives from all majors. Keep an eye out for new content appearing soon, including interviews, reviews, and news items.
